Pursuit suspect enters plea agreement
A 36 year old Gering man who led authorities on a nearly half hour chase in October entered a plea agreement with prosecutors Tuesday. In the plea agreement, Stacy will enter a guilty or no contest plea to a charge of flight to avoid arrest, a class IV felony. Drug possession charges will be dismissed.
Shawn Stacy was traveling at speeds up to 90 miles per hour on October 2nd as he took authorities on an estimated 20 mile chase that included off-road travel through bean fields, a farm yard, and over ditches. The chase began on East Overland in Scottsbluff, then proceeded to Highway 26 and on county roads north of Minatare and east of Scottsbluff.
Stacy was driving under suspension, was wanted on a theft warrant, and for a protection order violation. Stacy has a lengthy criminal record dating back to the '90's.
Stacy will be sentenced on the flight to avoid arrest charge on February 6th at 8:15 a.m.
