Former Kimball City Councilman in court on theft related charges
A former Kimball city councilman sentenced to prison last summer for the attempted first degree sexual assault of a child had a first appearance in Scotts Bluff County Court Friday on charges related to the theft of probate funds.
Scott Haun is accused of taking money from a woman's probate account while he was acting as the woman's conservator and guardian.
Court documents accuse Haun of taking nearly $20,000 from an account established for Doris Anderson of Kimball over 18 months beginning in May of 2010 to pay for his personal credit cards and for cash. Haun reportedly tried to cover up the withdrawals by inflating Anderson's expenditures, including her boarding costs.
The 50 year old Haun is facing two felony charges, theft by deception over $1,500, and abuse of a vulnerable adult.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 20th at 9:30 a.m.
