Bad check suspect tackled by store manager

A bad check suspect who was tackled by a store manager at Main Street Market as Police were arriving has been arrested for writing over $1,100 in closed account checks.

Court documents say Scottsbluff Police were informed Monday by the store about the bad checks and the investigation indicated 27 year old Orrey Pickering was writing the checks. Police were told Tuesday Pickering was at the Main Street Market checkout getting ready to leave.

The documents says as Officer Matt Herbel arrived he observed the store manager tackle a man at the east doors and the man, identified as Pickering, was placed into custody.

The court documents indicate Orrey was writing the bad checks to get gift cards he would use in various communities for fuel , food and other supplies. Orrey was arrested on four counts of writing bad checks.
