Teens given probation for firing flares

Two teens accused of firing shots from a flare gun at vehicles, businesses and into a park in March have both been sentenced to two years probation last month.

18 year old Tyler Schneider and 17 year old Byron Stieb entered pleas to one count of terroristic threats and one count of shoplifting as part of an expected plea agreement.

Court documents indicate the two teens stole a flare gun, flares, a knife and alcohol from Wal-Mart March 22nd. The documents say the teens took turns firing over 15 flares from a car at passing vehicles, toward a railroad worker and the Monument Mall, at a home, into a park and into Twin City Auto on East Overland.

There were five individuals in the car when it was stopped on 27th and Avenue A but the other passengers were not charged. Police located the stolen items in the car. Both teens were ordered to make restitution to Wal-Mart.
