Plans for Sidney housing development announced

Plans for a huge housing development on close to 500 acres on the east side of Sidney were announced today. The development has the potential for 800 homes east of the Sidney Soccer fields and Deer Run Park, and according to city officials and business leaders would address the community's significant need for housing as Sidney grows.

Cabela's and Sidney Regional Medical Center own the land. Cabela's CEO Tommy Milner says the project represents Cabela's commitment to Sidney as its home base.

Public input and feedback on the potential development plans is encouraged December 5th and 6th at the Cheyenne County Community Center. A feasibility study will be conducted and a final master plan could be ready as soon as March.

Sidney Regional Medical Center CEO Jason Petik says the area is the natural direction for the city to expand.
