Chadron man arrested on drug counts

Chadron Police have arrested a 28 year old man after finding drugs and related paraphernalia inside an open downtown business early Monday morning. Samuel "Adam" Widger was taken into custody for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of psilocybin mushrooms, and possession of a controlled substance (hydrocodone), all three felonies.

A media release from Chadron Police Chief Tim Lordino says officers were conducting business building checks when they found an open door to the "Game Changer" in the 1700 block of Main Street.

Once inside officers found no sign of a break-in but they did discover marijuana in plain sight. After gaining search warrants for the business and a vehicle they found seven (7) ounces of suspected marijuana, suspected psilocybin mushrooms, items related to the sale of marijuana, approximately $1000.00 in cash, and a loaded 38 caliber pistol.

The Chadron Police Department was assisted by the Dawes County Attorney's Office, the Dawes County Sheriff's Department, the Nebraska State Patrol and the WING HIDTA Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, which is partially funded through a grant from the Nebraska Crime Commission.
