Local women competing at Miss Nebraska pageant

The Miss Nebraska Pageant in North Platte gets real tonight with the first of 2 nights of preliminary competition for the 16 contestants, leading up to Saturday night's finals.

As a part of the Miss America system, the contestants are judged in 5 categories: talent, judges interview, evening gown, swimsuit-physical fitness, and on-stage question.

Half of this year's field is from the Panhandle or representing area pageants

Saturday afternoon, before the Miss Nebraska finals, it's the Miss Nebraska's Outstanding Teen Pageant where 7 of the 12 contestants having area ties or hold local titles.

Scottsbluff-Gering contestants in the Miss Nebraska Pageant include JaCee Pilkington, Miss Western Nebraska; Morgan Yost, Miss Scotts Bluff County; and Jessica Littlejohn, Miss Crane Festival. In the Miss Nebraska Outstanding Teen competition is Allie Boggs, Miss Scotts Bluff County Outstanding Teen; Brittli Sell, Miss Gering Outstanding Teen; Holly Walker, Miss Northwest Outstanding Teen; and JaLee Pilkington, Miss Western Nebraska Outstanding Teen.

Miss Northwest Megan Dimmitt of Alliance and Miss Alliance Kiya Stack of Chadron will also compete in the Miss Nebraska pageant.

Miss Alliance Mikaela Hastings of Chadron will participate in the Outstanding Teen pageant
