Colorado Christian runs past CSC

DENVER – Five players scored in double figures and the Colorado Christian women's basketball team came up with 17 steals en route to its 106-68 victory over Chadron State College Friday during the opening day of the Holiday Inn Select Classic on Metro State's campus.

Chadron State will play Lubbock Christian today (Saturday) at 5 p.m.

Colorado Christian's Mariah Metoyer scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Taylor Torres added 20 points but it was the Cougars' defense that proved to be the difference in the game. The Cougars forced Chadron State to turn the ball over 31 times and they scored 42 points off the Eagles' turnovers.

CCU hit 38 of 80 from the field, while CSC sank 27 of 67. The Cougars also hit 10 of 21 from 3-point range and 20 of 28, while limiting the Eagles to just four of 15 from long range and 10 of 17 from the foul line.

All eight CSC players who played found the scoring column. Dallas Shaw scored a team-high 22 points while Kate Simonton chipped in a career-high 14 in just 19 minutes of action.

Also for the Eagles, Hattie Guzman scored eight points, Kattie Ranta had six points and eight boards and Greer Babbe finished with six.
