Ten expected to apply for Bluffs Assistant City Manager position
Scottsbluff City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says he expects 10 people to apply for the city's new Assistant City Manager position. Earlier in the week it appeared as if there would be no more than a few applications but Kuckkahn says there has been more interest in the last few days.
Kuckkahn says there is interest from internal and outside candidates, and all of them have pretty good credentials in terms of former employment or academic achievement. Kuckkahn says "it is a much brighter picture than a week ago."
The application deadline is the close of the business day today (Friday). Kuckkahn says an evaluation of the candidates and phone interviews will be done over the next month, and somebody should be identified within no later than 45 days.
Kuckkahn says a lot of the responsibilities of the person hired will regard information technology, human resources and capital improvements. Kuckkahn says the person will provide continuity for the city manager's position and should be able to assume the position when Kuckkahn makes the decision to retire.
