White Christmas almost certain with Monday snow forecast
A storm system will arrive by afternoon Monday, bringing widespread snowfall to the area, and almost assuring a white Christmas.
The National Weather Service says that 2 to 4 inches of snow will likely fall across southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska, with the bulk of the snow falling Christmas Eve night. Snowfall totals in the mountains may reach a foot.
Unlike the storm that struck the state a few days ago, this system will have light winds. So, blowing and drifting snow should not be a big concern. However, those planning to travel Christmas Eve or Christmas Day should be prepared for slippery and snow-covered roads.
After the snow, arctic air will spread over the area, and make highs in the low to mid teens on Christmas Day, with lows falling below zero Christmas night. Wind chills could fall to as cold as 15 below zero.
