Teens injured in stolen car rollover

Two teens in a stolen car that rolled on the southeast end of Scotts Bluff County Monday morning have reportedly been hospitalized, one of them apparently with serious injuries. The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Office says the accident involving a 1998 Toyota Camry owned by Mike Warren of Gering occurred around 9:30 a.m.

Chief Deputy Jim Gaspers says the car was approaching a rural "T" intersection three miles southwest of McGrew when the driver failed to negotiated the curve. Gaspers says the car went into an east side ditch and rolled several times, ending up in an open field. The driver, 16 year old Jose Lozoya of Scottsbluff, and his passenger 16 year old Jesse Pena of Gering, were both ejected from the vehicle.

Both teens were transferred to Regional West Medical Center, Lozoya reportedly with a broken leg, dislocated hip and head injury, and Pena with less serious injuries. Their status at the hospital is unknown.

Gering Police have not been available to get information on the theft of the car.
