Wiebe earns two top ten finishes

Scottsbluff/Gering Seacat Jonathan Wiebe closed out his high school swimming career Saturday with two top ten finishes at the State Swimming and Diving Championships in Lincoln.

Wiebe was 6th in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 22.27. Sean Tate of Omaha Creighton Prep won the event in a time of 20.76.

Wiebe then finshed 5th in the 100 Free in a time of 48.48. Tate also won the 100. His time was 46.42.

Tate helped lead the Junior Jays to the boys team title. They scored 409.5 points compared to 254 for second place Millard South. Wiebe put up 34 points for the Seacats. That placed them in 18th place amongst 23 scoring teams.

Millard West won the girls title with 267 points compared to 222 for second place Lincoln Southwest. The Seacat girls team did not score at the state meet.
