Thiele Pharmacy sold to Safeway
Owner Charles Lierk announced Thursday that Thiele Pharmacy is being sold to Safeway and will be relocated to the Safeway Grocery Store in Alliance on December 5.
Lierk says several of his current staff members will be employed by Safeway and he believes Safeway will try to reflect the image that Thiele's has had for over 100 years.
Lierk says Safeway had expressed interest in the pharmacy even before the June 12th standoff at the downtown location where an Alliance man was fatally shot by authorities. The 63-year-old Lierk says the sale will allow him to retire in a few years, and yet keep the pharmacy in Alliance.
The pharmacy will continue to operate at its present location, 2307 Box Butte Avenue, until December 4th.
