Bayard girls capture C11 District Meet
The Bayard girls and Chase County boys captured C11 District Track and Field Meet titles Thursday in Grant.
The Tigers got wins in seven events on their way to the top. They outscored second place Chase County 123-90.
Bayard was paced by freshman sensation Jessi Smith. She won the 800 and 1600 meter runs and was part of two winning relay teams, the 4x100 and 4x400.
Megan Stuart was a triple winner, participating on both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams in addition to taking the pole vault. Alanda Kildow also had a big day for the Tigers. She won the high jump and triple jump and finished third in the 100 hurdles. Her effort in the triple jump established a new school record.
Breanna Korell was on both winning relays along with finishing second in both the 100 and 200.
Miah Vera was the final member of the 4x100 relay team. She also got a second in the long jump. And Sinahi Garcia rounded out the 4x400 relay team.
Hemingford's Kelsy Wood will go to Omaha in four events. She won both hurdle event an also captured the long jump and 100. Bridgeport's Jessica Kildow won the 400.
A couple of Bulldog boys came away with three district titles while leading the team to a second place finish in the team standings behind Chase County.
Cody Franklin won the 1,600 and 3,200, while Jaime Gonzales took the long jump.
