Plea agreement in sexual assault on minor case
A 19 year old Gering man originally charged with three counts of first degree sexual assault on a minor entered a no-contest plea to two of the the charges before Scotts Bluff County District Court Judge Leo Dobrovolny Monday. In exchange, the state dropped the third charge.
Marco Garcia is accused of having sex with a 12 year old girl and twice having intimate relations with a 14 year old girl.
A court document says the encounter with the 12 year old girl was at the victim's house in mid-February. The document says the victim began talking with Garcia on Facebook and he ended up coming over to the house.
The court document involving the 14 year old girl says the two incidents occurred in January, the first time at the house of a friend of Garcia and the second time in the rural area in a vehicle.
The victims told investigators with the Gering Police Department and the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Office Garcia knew they were minors.
Sentencing is set for September 5th at 11:30 a.m.
