Longtime Gering head volleyball coach Craig Schadwinkel is not coaching the Bulldogs volleyball team right now. Gering activities director Glen Koski issued a short statement Monday afternoon.

"Craig Schadwinkel is not currently serving in the position of head volleyball coach for Gering Public Schools. Stevie Gable will serve as interim head volleyball coach.

Overall the Bulldogs have made 18 trips to state during Schadwinkel's reign, including a Class A appearance in 1991 when he was on a one-year sabbatical from Gering to be a grad assistant at the University of Wyoming. Former WNCC, and current Alaska-Anchorage, coach Chris Green handled the duties that season.

Gering, most recently appeared at the Class B state tournament in 2010 and 2011. Schadwinkel has over 500 career wins with the Bulldogs.
