World Famous Children's Author Jan Brett visits Scottsbluff Wednesday

The Lied Scottsbluff Public library will host a the visit by world famous children's author and illustrator Jan Brett, who will be in Scottsbluff on Wednesday, November 13th at 6 p.m. at Midwest Theater.

Brett's visit is part of a nationwide tour sponsored by Penguin Books to promote the release of her latest book, Cinders: A Chicken Cinderella.

Scottsbluff is one of only 24 cities in this year's bus tour. Her latest book is set for release on November 5 and was inspired by Brett's journey to Russia and her award-winning flock of fancy chickens. She is the New York Times #1 best- selling author/illustrator of more than 30 books for children, which have sold over 38 million copies.

Cinders: A Chicken Cinderella and other selected Brett books will be available for purchase beginning November 7 at the Lied Scottsbluff Public Library. Along with books, patrons may buy tickets for a chance to win a wall-hanging featuring illustrations from Brett's book, The Mitten, along with a fabric book of the same title.

On the evening of her visit, the author will begin with a 15-20 minute illustration and presentation followed by a book signing. In addition to the pre-sale at the library, the public will also be able to buy books before and after the program at the theater. Proceeds from book sales will go to the Lied Scottsbluff Public Library Foundation for future programming.

Doors will open at 5:15 p.m. for book pre-sale and seating. Her books are also being sold at the library.
