Geurts petition organizers pushing toward deadline
With only two days before a petition will be submitted asking for a grand jury to be convened to look into the death of two year old Juliette Geurts, organizers were in the parking lot of the new Taco Johns in Scottsbluff Monday seeking additional signatures. The toddler's murder remains unsolved four years later.
A total of 975 valid signatures are needed for a grand jury to be called and Monica Hall, the girl's aunt, said today they have over 1,600 signatures. She is hoping to get as many signatures as possible before they are turned in mid-morning Wednesday.
Hall said she is hopeful a Grand Jury would not only bring justice in her niece's case, but would also help to bring about a change in the system.
Hall said they will be taking signatures right up until Wednesday morning. To sign the petition, call 308-672-5650.
