Casper man identified as victim in apparent jail suicide

The death of a federal prisoner at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center appears to have been the result of a hanging. Scots Bluff County Attorney Doug Warner says the inmate has been identified as 41 year old Dominic Geboe of Casper.

Warner says the apparent suicide happened in a locked bathroom stall very early this morning several hours before the body was discovered. The body was found at 6:40 this morning by a corrections officer delivering breakfast to several inmates in the pod. Warner says the other inmates were sleeping at the time of the event and no one witnessed it.

Geboe was taken to Regional West Medical Center by emergency personnel, but was pronounced dead at the hospital. An autopsy is being conducted to formally determine the cause of death.

The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating and a grand jury will be convened to investigate the death.
