Bluffs Quiet Zone project inching closer to completion
The Scottsbluff city council Monday evening will move closer to establishing a city with no train horns when they consider approving the Avenue I crossing Quiet Zone contract with Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad.
City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says this is the final crossing that needs to have the electronics in place before the city can move forward with the Quiet Zone project. Kuckkahn says there has been an unforeseen delay with getting the contract completed for Avenue I, the city is satisfied and with the progress BNSF has made in getting the Quiet Zone project completed.
Kuckkahn believes the city is only a month or two away from have the Quiet Zone established throughout the city.
