New, larger Runza opens in downtown Scottsbluff

A new and bigger Runza restaurant is open in downtown Scottsbluff, with three times the space and twice the seating.

The old restaurant, which is in the process of being torn down to allow for the new drive-thru, had seating for a maximum of 50 people. The new 8,000 square foot restaurant, with roundtables and booths plus an outside seating area that features a fireplace when enclosed, can seat just shy of 100.

Neil Blomenkamp, who owns the Scottsbluff and Gering restaurants with his wife Lora, says he likes the completed new restaurant. Neil said the old restaurant had "worn itself out". He says the new building is spacious, and provides a nice atmosphere for families and friends to have lunch or gather after events or while downtown.

Blomenkamp says the new drive thru, when completed in a couple weeks or so, will eliminate the crowded conditions on 19th Street. There is also more parking up front and the restrooms are larger.
