Pursuit suspect bound over to District Court

A 23 year old Scottsbluff man facing multiple drug and weapons charges after a pursuit with Scottsbluff Police was bound over to District Court after a preliminary hearing in Scotts Bluff County Court Thursday.

Court documents accuse Alex Paramo of traveling at speeds estimated at over 105 miles per hour, prior to a collision involving a Scottsbluff Police car.

The documents say Paramo fled from a patrol officer when he attempted to stop him for expired plates shortly before 9 p.m. The fleeing vehicle was allegedly traveling at over 80 miles per hour on E. 17th Street in Scottsbluff and at over 105 miles per hour on 21st Avenue while violating several stop signs and narrowly missing another car. The pursuit ended approximately a quarter mile south of the Sandberg road on County Road 23 south of Gering when Paramo lost control and rolled the car in the roadway, where it was struck by a pursuing Scottsbluff Police vehicle.

Paramo was quickly apprehended and additional officers arrived to assist.

Investigators seized two firearms and suspected narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia at the scene.

Paramo is charged with possession of methamphetamine, two counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and flight to avoid arrest.

Paramo has an arraignment hearing scheduled in District Court April 4th at 1 p.m.
