Rural Mitchell man arrested on terroristic threats, firearm charges
A rural Mitchell man faces multiple terroristic threats and weapons charges after he allegedly fired shots Sunday morning at a woman he was sharing a residence with and her friends. 23 year old Brock Helgerson is accused of pointing the revolver at the woman and firing two rounds as she, her new boyfriend and a couple friends showed up at her rural Mitchell home to remove her ex-boyfriend, who had texted he was at the house with Helgerson.
Court documents say as the current and ex-boyfriend began arguing outside the house, Helgerson fired two shots and asked the woman and her friends to leave, threatening to kill them. The documents say Helgerson later told Police he "didn't want that drama in his yard." Helgerson did lead the responding officer to the basement, where he found the loaded gun and secured it as evidence.
Helgerson is charged with four counts of terroristic threats and four counts of use of a firearm to commit a felony, and will make his initial court appearance Monday afternoon.
