Jury finds Ross guilty of bribery

It took an 8 woman, 4 man Scotts Bluff County District Court jury just under two hours to find 33 year old Brian Ross guilty of bribery.

Ross was accused of trying to bribe a juror at the Courthouse just prior to his methamphetamine possession trial in November.

Ross, who was convicted of the drug charge as well as two misdemeanors in that case, took the stand in his own defense Tuesday morning, arguing that he never said anything about money when he was talking to the juror as they walked to the second floor of the courthouse. Ross also claimed he had no money on him at the time.

But the juror testified that Ross did tell him he could give him "an envelope full of cash" if he could help Ross in his case. WING investigator Brandi Brunz also testified she saw Ross give his father a money clip with at least a couple one hundred dollar bills in it when he was taken into custody at the courthouse.

Ross could receive up to five years in prison on the bribery charge. He will be sentenced on a probation revocation charge and the bribery charge on April 24th at 3 p.m.

Bond was revoked and Ross will be jailed until sentencing.
