Local Veterans Day activities planned for Monday

Veterans Day is Monday and a number of programs and activities are lined up in Scottsbluff and Gering, starting off with a coffee at the Western Nebraska State Veterans home at 8:30 Monday morning. At 11 a.m., the Veterans Day Parade will take place along East Overland in Scottsbluff starting at 19th Avenue and proceeding west on East Overland to 3rd Avenue.

Scotts Bluff County Veterans Service Officer John Brehm encourages everyone line the parade route to honor Veterans for their service. And Brehm says there's another way you can be involved.

There will be a noon luncheon at VFW Post 1681 on the Scottsbluff/Gering Highway for parade participants. A program at the Vets Home at 1:30, the Village at Regional West at 2 p.m., and the Veterans Day banquet at the VFW Post 1681 Home Post in Gering with social hour at 5:30 and the banquet at 6:30 p.m.
