High School upgrade plan to be considered by Bluffs School Board

The Scottsbluff School Board Monday evening will be asked to move forward on developing plans to upgrade Scottsbluff High School so it is serviceable for the next 25 to 30 years.

An SHS Leadership Team, made up of department chairs and administrators, has provided advice on what is needed to assist in the real-life day to day needs of students and staff. Business Director Lavon Hood says the board will be asked this evening to have Baker and Associates move forward with preliminary designs and cost estimates based on the team's advice and infrastructure concerns noted previously by the architects.

Facilities Director Randy Scott says some of the concerns that will be addressed include needed power upgrades in classrooms to deal with technology, plumbing concerns, and closer and better restrooms near the auditorium and gym for public events. Both Hood and Scott say facilities improvements for the Middle School and the elementary schools will also be looked at, but the main concern is the scope of improvements needed at the high school.
