Vickers sentenced to prison
A man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl on the Sunday after Thanksgiving of 2011 was sentenced to 14 to 20 years in prison Friday in Scotts Bluff County District Court. 31 year old Douglas Vickers entered a guilty plea in April to attempted first degree sexual assault. Vickers made the plea as part of an agreement with prosecutors.
The arrest affidavit in the case says the victim told Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Bliss and Nebraska State Patrol investigator Tammi Otto in two separate interviews that Vickers, a family acquaintance, entered her bedroom at a rural Gering home, and sexually assaulted her. The victim said her mother was at work at the time of the alleged assault.
