Monument Marathon on the horizon

The second running of the Platte Valley Companies Monument Marathon is set to take place this Saturday. Runners from 25 states participated in last year's inaugural event, and Coordinator Dayle Wallien says they have 423 people registered between the half marathon and full marathon. Wallien says that is right on track with where they were last year.

She says they have plenty of actual volunteers to help with the marathon, but everyone can help in a big way by making signs and cheering the runners on along the marathon route.

The full 26 mile marathon begins at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center and the 13 mile half marathon begins at the Robidoux campground. Both begin at 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
