Willa Kosman, Executive Director of Friends of the Midwest Theater, says the group has received two grants to help with the Digital Projector/Surround Sound Upgrade project at the historic downtown Scottsbluff theater.

The total cost of the project is approximately $150,000. The Peter Kiewit Foundation has awarded a $40,000 challenge grant and the Oregon Trail Community Foundation awarded the Theater $15,000 grant.

in addition the Scottsbluff/Gering Rotary Club also named the theater as the recipient of their Rotary Gold event March 16, 2013.

The system will be installed in the spring of 2013.

Jeff Geiler, Geiler & Associates, LLC from Denver will be at the theater today to provide acoustic design services for the theater. Mr. Geiler will provide the Theater Board with a 3D model of the theater using Electro Acoustic Simulation from Engineers to determine best locations for speakers and acoustic treatments.
