The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's office said that the 17 year old girl's car was southbound when she tried to drive around the dropped gates at the 21st Avenue crossing near Highway 92 and her vehicle was struck by the eastbound Union Pacific train.

Lt. Rick Spencer says Orozco was transported to Regional West Medical Center, but was later pronounced dead.

The accident occurred shortly before 1:30 Sunday morning. Seat belts were not in use at the time of the accident.
