Two Chadron players honored

Jonn McLain

CHADRON – Two Chadron State College football student-athletes have earned player of the week honors following the Eagles' 34-10 victory over Fort Lewis last Saturday at Elliott Field.

Jonn McLain is the Nebraska Division II Offensive Player of the Week, while Kyle McCarthy is the Nebraska Division II Defensive Player of the Week and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

McCarthy, a sophomore from Aurora, had a great day on the defensive line. He had 10 total tackles and 2.5 sacks (two solo, two assisted) in the Eagles' 34-10 victory over Fort Lewis. He led a Chadron State defense which didn't allow an offensive TD and limited the Skyhawks' leading rusher, Dewaun Wesley, to 46 yards on 15 carries.

McLain, a junior from Chadron, completed 20 of 25 passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns and he added a 30-yard TD run in the second quarter. McLain has thrown for 2,511 yards and 23 touchdowns this season.
