Scottsbluff girls get two wins at state tennis

The Scottsbluff girls tennis team picked-up 10 points at the Class B State Tournament in Lincoln Thursday.

Freshman Zoe Holscher rallied to win a first round match in No. 1 singles. She topped 10th seeded Elsa Gavilan-Sjoestrom of Waverly in three sets.

Holscher then lost a tough second round three set match, that lasted over two and a half hours, to No. 7 Sadie Rich of Omaha Brownell-Talbot.

The Cats' other win came from the No. 2 doubles team of Sarah Cloud and Stacea Pauli. The freshmen won a three set match with Omaha Brownell-Talbot. They fell in round two to unbeaten and top-seeded Kearney Catholic.

Both Gering and Alliance picked up four points with first round wins in Lincoln.

Gering got its first win ever at state from the No. 1 doubles team of Samantha Gutherless and Savannah Walker. They topped the team of Caitlyn Tritle and Jordan Klinkerman of Alliance, 6-1 and 7-5. They fell in round two to a duo from McCook.

Alliance got a win from sophomore Makylee Kaping at No. 1 singles. She topped Emily Bokowski of Gretna, but then fell in round two to third seeded Teresa Kaiser of Omaha Skutt Catholic.
