Avenue I project likely to be delayed

The planned resurfacing of Avenue I from the South Beltline Highway to 27th Street and everything that goes with it will likely be delayed for a year.

The project, funded mostly with stimulus money, was scheduled for this summer's construction season, but getting the bidding and additional paperwork completed will take time.

The over one million dollar project will also take parking off of the main arterial and City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says more discussion is needed on that issue.

The project will also incorporate the first phase of a biking and walking trial that will parallel Avenue I and eventually include the entire city.
