Preparations begin for Legacy of the Plains construction

Preparations for construction at the Legacy of the Plains Museums has begun. Utility work is beginning this week and Executive Director Katie Bradshaw says one of the other things people will notice in the near future is leveling and paving of the parking lot along with new landscaping.

Bradshaw says volunteers are also organizing exhibits at the North Platte Valley Museum in preparation for the combining of the two museums later this year. Bradshaw says construction has also begun on a steel building that will be added to the site when the North Platte Valley Museum brings their exhibits to the site.

The annual Legacy of the Plains meeting will take place March 7th, where consultants with Exhibit Designs Associates will speak on their plans to bring together the stories of the Farm and Ranch Museum and the North Platte Valley Museum into one major exhibit.

RSVP's are due March 4th for the dinner at the Gering Civic Center, and can be made by calling 436-1989.
