Colorado man convicted of drug delivery
A Colorado man has been found guilty of two drug offenses by a Scotts Bluff County District Court jury. 28 year old Manuel Tapia was convicted of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and a lesser charge of possession of marijuana more than an ouce and less than a pound.
Tapia and 26 year old Tiffannee Garnier were taken into custody in late April after Police responded to a report of people using drugs in a car at a residence in the 400 block of East Overland. Court documents say Police could smell the odor of burnt marijuana at the scene.
The document says when officers conducted a pat-search of Tapia they found packaged marijuana in a front pocket. Another bag of packaged marijuana was seized from the center console of the car. The documents also indicated they found cocaine in two bags near the hood of the car that was packaged in various quantities and amounts.
The document says the two suspects were boyfriend and girlfriend and had traveled to Scottsbluff from Denver in a rental car.
Tapia could receive up to fifty years in prison when he is sentenced December 6th.
