Twisters win first game in Colorado
The Twisters 16 and under girls fast pitch softball team is off and running at the Colorado/Wyoming State Softball Tournament in Loveland. They won their opening contest Saturday morning, 4-1, against the Colorado Havac-Anthony.
The Twister made a four-run first inning stand-up for the win. Cassandra Bustillos had a leadoff single. Isabel Thompson followed with a walk then Bustillos scored the first run on a one out ground out by Jessica Rogers. Thompson came in with the second run on a double by Shaylee Rickard. Mikayla Butler followed with a single to score Rickard. Lourdes Ramirez-Monge then came on to run for Butler.
Raele Riley followed with another single and Ramirez-Monge then scored the fourth run when Barbara Calvert reached on an error.
The Colorado Havoc remained scoreless until the fifth. They then challenged in the sixth and final inning with back-to-back one down singles, but Rickard came on to replace Butler in the circle and get the final two outs to record the save.
