CSC teacher education program accredited
The teacher education program at Chadron State College has again been re-accredited by NCATE...the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. The NCATE action followed a positive report by an assessment team at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The NCATE team visited the CSC campus and the Chadron area for three days in April to interview students, student teachers, alumni, faculty, staff and area school principals about the quality of the teacher preparation program at CSC. The team had full access to on-campus, online and Interactive televised classes throughout its visit.
CSC Education professor Dr Patti Blundell, a member of the faculty NCATE committee, says the committee and the school are very pleased with the report and re-accreditation because they recognize CSC's efforts toward continuous improvement in teacher education.
One area in which they discovered adjustment was needed was is using data, with graduates going into teaching needing to be more sophisticated in that area. It was addressed by adding a course at the graduate level and through new assignments in various undergraduate courses.
