Rural Lyman fire destroys home

A family of five has been displaced by a fire that destroyed a home 5 miles southeast of Lyman Saturday morning. According to Lyman Fire Chief Mike Kindred, the structure fire destroyed the 2 story, 5 bedroom home with full basement and it's contents, with a loss estimated around $200,000. The home was being rented by Keith and pam Metz and their children. The couple had just purchased a new television and appliances.

Deputy State Fire Marshal Mike Turner said the fire was electrical in nature, and started in the attic. Kindred said the home had been added on to several times, so the fire was located in a difficult place to get to extinguish. Mitchell, Morrill and Henry firefighters provided mutual assistance in putting out the blaze.
