Scottsbluff announces council vacancy

The Scottsbluff city council Wednesday formally announced the council vacancy created by the resignation of longtime councilman Dave Boeckner.

The city says they will accept applications through midnight Friday, September 27th. Individuals wishing to be considered must submit a letter of interest clearly marked "City Council Letter of Intent" to the Scottsbluff city clerk's office before the deadline. Qualified applicants must live within the city of Scottsbluff limits and be a registered voter. The council will interview each person whose name is submitted

The vacancy will be filled at the council's October 21st meeting. The appointed individual will then serve on the council until December 2014 unless elected to continue in the seat during the November 2014 general election.

Two individuals, Liz Hilyard and Linda Redfern, have already submitted applications.
