The economic development consultants approved by the Scottsbluff city council are meeting with community, government and business leaders this week.

Thomas P. Miller and Associates (TPMA) and Foote Consulting Group (FCG) are to prepare a long-term economic development strategic plan. City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says the consultants are gaining an initial perspective of the community.

The consultants are also looking at the area's labor pool and educational institutions and seeking information on workforce cost and availability; training needs; skills gaps; transportation and utility issues; commercial/industrial sites and buildings; land use issues and other business costs and conditions.

The public will have a chance to provide input, perspective, and ask questions during a community forum with the consultants Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the Gering Civic center.
