Esther Lucille Amateis, 91, Bridgeport

Esther Lucile Amateis, 91, of Bridgeport, died Saturday, January 04, 2014 at Skyview of Bridgeport. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Bridgeport with Pastor Ray Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport. Visitation is scheduled from 5pm until 7pm on Tuesday at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Bridgeport. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Lucile's honor be made to the Festival of Hope or the Bridgeport Rural Volunteer Fire Department. Online condolences may be left at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Bridgeport is in charge of arrangements.

Lucile was born September 16, 1922 in Bridgeport to William and Gladys (Chroninger) Boyer. She received her education and graduated from Bridgeport High School. She married Joe Amateis March 20, 1949 and they made their home on the family farm east of Bridgeport until retiring in town.

Lucile was a hard working lady. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, sewing and quilting. She especially loved ceramics. She assisted the senior citizens in Bridgeport for over 30 years, taught school for a year, was an officer in the Ladies VFW auxiliary, and was very proud of her adventure going to visit the soldiers at the train depot at the North Platte Canteen. She enjoyed helping on the family farm, raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson.

She is survived by her children Kathy (Dale) Sherfey of Penrose, CO, Larry (Sue) Amateis of Centennial, CO, Stan Amateis of Bridgeport and Jodene Amateis of Scottsbluff; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 2 sisters in law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband Joe, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and many other beloved family members preceded her in death.
