Neb. State Fair display alleviating hunger

With the 2013 Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island in the books, a large food donation is being made. The Nebraska Corn Board, Nebraska Pork Producers, Nebraska Soybean Board, Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture and Grange are donating their "can - creation". The organizations had a joint display featuring featuring a combine in a corn field, a pig in a soybean field and a grocery store front all made from canned food. The Canstruction display of 11,115 cans of food is being donated to the Salvation Army food bank.

On Labor Day, state fair visitors also received half price admission for a canned food donation.

Canstruction is a charity that hosts events where structures are created entirely out of canned food then donated to a local food bank. Since 1992, Canstruction has donated more than 21 million pounds of food worldwide to alleviate hunger.
