Farm food safety workshops scheduled in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Nebraska food producers can learn how to protect their product and customers at workshops scheduled throughout the state.

The workshops will help fresh produce growers and farmer's market managers develop their own farm food safety plans. Workshop topics will help producers improve worker sanitation, harvesting, handling, packaging, storage and transportation of fresh produce from the farm to markets, schools, restaurants and retail stores.

The one-day training sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The fee is $65 per operation, which covers educational materials and lunch. The six classes will be between Jan. 15 and Feb. 20. They will be held in Sidney, Ord, Hastings,Lincoln, Wayne and Beatrice.
