Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour Begins
This year's Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour is underway. DTN Senior Analyst Darin Newsom says this year's tour will be watched more closely than in the past few years because so many questions remain about both the corn and soybean crops - due to late planted crops. Pro Farmer Editor Chip Flory says last year - scouts measured a very mature crop and could put a lot of faith in those numbers. This year - Flory says scouts will have to remember that weather will play a big role - and they'll be measuring more of a potential yield than they were a year ago.
This year - there are 70 scouts on the Eastern leg - moving west from Ohio to Minnesota - and 55 on the western leg - moving through South Dakota, Nebraska and western Iowa on its way to Minnesota.
