Dorothy Mae Cable, 89, Scottsbluff
Dorothy Mae Cable, 87, of Scottsbluff, died Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Michael Stein officiating. Interment will be 9:00 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2012, at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff with military honors provided by the United States Navy.
Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Scottsbluff or donate blood in Dorothy's honor, as she was a 10 gallon donor. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com
Dorothy was born May 4, 1923, at Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Emery McKinley and Ivey Ethel (Bailey) Barry. She graduated from the Scottsbluff High School in 1941. She then worked for the local phone company until entering the United State Navy, serving in Washington DC from November 17, 1944 to April 17, 1946. She returned to Scottsbluff and worked continued to work for the phone company. On March 8, 1947, she married Deane Cable in Scottsbluff. She was employed at Montgomery Wards in Scottsbluff for many years.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Scottsbluff Rebekah's, Royal Neighbors and was a Foster Grandparent and worked at Camp Scott. Dorothy was very loved by her family and all who knew her. She has touched many people in her life.
Survivors include her sons, Barry Cable of Scottsbluff, Thomas (Sandra) Cable of Parker, Colorado, and Steven Cable of Loveland, Colorado; daughter, Shirley (John) King of Casper, Wyoming; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law; Sara and Warren Brashear; and sister-in-law, Rubey Barry.
