Janice Ann Unverzagt, 78, Torrington

Janice Ann Unverzagt, 78, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Lingle Community Presbyterian Church with Reverend Curtis Hill and Pastor Bob Fertsch officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Lingle. Cremation has taken place.Memorials may be made to the Goshen Care Center in Torrington. Janice was born June 21, 1934, in Ellsworth, Kan., the daughter of Frank and Marie (Kasper) Conyers. She lived in Ellsworth until she was 16 years old, when she moved with her family to Lingle, Wyo. Jan graduated from Lingle High School in 1952. On June 29, 1952 Jan married Carl Unverzagt in Lingle. The couple farmed in Lingle. In 1964, Jan attended beauty school in Scottsbluff and after working at another shop in Torrington for about a year, Jan opened her own shop, "J and L Boutique." She owned and operated several shops around Torrington until she retired in 2002. After retirement, she spent most of her time helping her kids and grandkids. Jan really enjoyed spending time with her family.

Jan was an avid bowler and traveled to many tournaments. She also enjoyed fishing, video poker, and following her children and grandchildren's sporting events. Jan loved to cook for harvest. She was always cooking for her family, as well as extended families. She also enjoyed gardening and canning. She was a past President of Torrington Bowling League, a Cub Scout leader and a member of the Moose.

Survivors include her sons, Gary Unverzagt of Lingle, Karl and Carol Unverzagt of Lingle, David and Aimee Unverzagt of Lingle and Allen and Brenda Unverzagt of Lingle; brother, Fred Conyers of Meridan, Kan.; sisters, Lou Carlin of Arlington, Wash., Nancy Snell of Cheyenne, Jane Carlson of Wheatland; grandchildren, Willy, Ryan, Jared, Karter, Jorey and Janelle; and her one great-grandson, Mason. Preceding Jan in death were her parents; husband, Carl; brothers, Kenneth and James and sisters, Joann (Jan's twin sister) and Wilma.
