Darlene Ann (Struve) Schaff, 75, Scottsbluff

Darlene Ann (Struve) Schaff, 75, of Scottsbluff died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 14, 2012.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Vince Parsons officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff. Memorials can be sent to the St. Agnes School foundation or the donor's choice. She was born in Oxford Nebraska to Rollo W. and Larine (Morin) Struve on April 26, 1937. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1955 and went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Education from Kearney State College in 1958 with a degree in Home Economics, teaching seventh and eighth grade at Scottsbluff High School. On June 10th, 1961, she married M.C. Schaff at St. Agnes Church, and marriage and family became her career. The two went on to have seven children.
She dedicated her life to her family and when asked her occupation, she was emphatic it be listed as 'homemaker'; she was never a house wife. Known for being a good cook, having too large a garden, and canning lots of food, she also enjoyed traveling and trying new things. She was active in the St. Agnes faith community.

She is survived by her husband, M.C.; children Michael (Julie) Schaff, Paulynn Schaff, Kenton (Suzette) Schaff, Farrell (Martin) Weiers, Steven (Karen) Schaff, David (Kerri) Schaff, and Kevin (Jina) Schaff; and fourteen grandchildren.
