Josephine "Jo" A. Spencer, 94, Scottsbluff

Josephine "Jo" A. Spencer, 94 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 28, 2012.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel with Pastor Lauren Ekdahl officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or charity of your choice. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com.

Jo was born September 14, 1917 in Traer, Kansas to Ellsworth and Gracie (McCartney) Brannan, the first of eight children. She graduated from Oberlin High School, Oberlin, Kansas in 1935.
She met and married the Love of her life, E. Carl Spencer in Cope, Colorado and they were married July 24, 1937 in Harrisburg, NE and to this union three children were born.

Jo was a loving homemaker and wife. Her greatest love was her family, extended family and her many friends. Especially her friends from Wel-Life of Scottsbluff, where she resided the last eight years.

Survivors include her children Duane (Jan) Spencer of Greeley, CO and Clarice Grothe of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Christine Wiges, Kevin Spencer, Randy Spencer, Allen Douglas, Nicolle Spencer Ter Meer, Troy Votruba, Paul Votruba, Brent Votruba, Mathew Kvasir and Rhonda Wilhelmi and 18 great grandchildren; sister Vi Darby and sisters-in-law Lillie (Spencer) Medina and Mary Spencer.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Spencer, son Larry Spencer, brothers Clyde, Gary, Glen and Oliver and sisters Esther and Ruth.
