Shirley Ruth Lovelidge, 60, Gering

Shirley Ruth Lovelidge, 60 of Gering, Nebraska passed away Saturday, September 29, 2012 at her home.

Shirley Ruth Lovelidge is the bravest woman we know. The battles she fought were not with artillery. The monsters she wrestled were not gargantuan. She always was, and always will be a prayer warrior, and so she taught us by example, when you wake up in middle of the night, always pray for the first person who comes to mind. (Think how many times that was each one of us.) She said "I love you no matter what, forever and ever, even into infinity, because I am in Christ and he is in me; you are never able to do anything to separate yourselves from that love."

She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She believed in the infallibility of God's Word. She was clever and loved to laugh, she was a very generous giver, and great listener; she was a mother not only to us, but to the entire neighborhood, especially those who needed a little extra encouragement.

She was survived by her husband Stephen Lovelidge, two daughters: Elizabeth Vincent and Hannah Lovelidge and two sons: Joseph Lovelidge and David Lovelidge, her brother Phillip Hogland, her sister Priscilla Aguiar, her Great Aunts Grace & Mary Watson. Niece Holly Aguiar, Nephew Alex Aguiar and close friends.

She was born in Denver, CO, she graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor's degree in special education. She was employed for over 21 years with the Child Development Center in Scottsbluff, NE. She's also been involved in 7 years of square dancing, 10 years with Toast Masters, and over 20 years with Gideons International. Recently, she volunteered with the GED program at WNCC.

Memorial services will take place at Calvary Memorial Church (265 18th Street, Gering, NE 69341) on Saturday, October 6th, 2012 at 9:30 AM. A burial at the Chimney Rock Cemetery will be followed by a meal provided at noon at Calvary Memorial Church. Please join us in celebration of Shirley's amazing life. A memorial to honor Shirley has been set up at First State Bank. The donations will go to Gideons International, Camp Rock, the Child Development Center or the WNCC GED program. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com. Gering Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
