Larry Gene Hess, 68, Morrill

Larry Gene Hess, 68, of Morrill died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at his home. His graveside memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill at 10:00 AM with Pastor Richard Reisig officiating. Memorials may be left to Prairie Haven Hospice. Online condolences may be left at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell is assisting the family with arrangements.

Larry was born July 23, 1944 in Scottsbluff to Gilbert and Opal (Beaver) Hess and lived his life in the Morrill area. He started school at Pleasant Grove & Liberty School, then graduated from Morrill High School in 1962. He had worked for his father and uncle Randolph Hess during the summers on farms. He went to Milford Technical School for 2 years for diesel mechanic. He worked at Henry & Mitchell doing tractor mechanics for a while. He met his wife Jeanne Shirley in Scottsbluff and was married Christmas Eve 1965. They moved to Scottsbluff and worked for Cannon Brothers Ford and Kizzier's Chevrolet for 8 years. Then moved back to the family farm in 1974 as his father retired. He farmed in 1975 and he also started working for Sioux County Roads for 34 years. He retired in 2009 and traveled around for a while, camping. He loved camping, motorcycles, farming, and his cattle and helping his children. He loved his church, which was Presbyterian until it closed and then started to the Methodist Church.

He put up a strong fight with his cancer and admired his doctor, LeConte for trying all she could to help him.

He is survived by his wife, daughter Tammi Annecharico of Scottsbluff, son Tim of Arvada, Colorado and granddaughters Emma Hess, Kayla Rhinehart of Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Bessie Hess, parents, Gilbert and Opal Hess, and several aunts and uncles.
